Canyon is about a 10-minute drive south of Amarillo and full of fun.  In fact, Canyon is the place to be for the 4th of July Holiday.  The population in the city triples because of the amazing celebration and the Independence Day Parade.

Canyon is home to Palo Duro Canyon, The Panhandle Plains Historical Museum, and West Texas A&M University.  They also have an amazing farmers market on the square during the season.

Canyon also has another amazing event that happens every year in October. It's the Canyon Chamber Chowdown.  It has been held in the Canyon Square since its inception, but this year the event is having a venue change with more room for the teams to smoke and cook their excellent meat, more room for a bigger stage, and a chance to show off a new Amarillo venue, that is tentatively known at "The Lumberyard."

The Canyon Chamber Chowdown will be held on Friday, October 6th from 5 pm - 8 pm.
