The Texas Workforce Commission recently released job data for the entire state and our area.

Amarillo Job Market Sees Unemployment Drop in 2025

Looking at Amarillo, the unemployment rate decreased to 3.1% in November from 3.2% in September. The labor force in the area grew by 2,091, which is a large growth from the year before. Jobs also increased by 1,944. The average hourly wage is $25.97, which translates to $54,008 per year.

Amarillo tops the list at #1 for unemployment in Texas. They are at #18 for monthly job growth and #15 for annual job growth.

Texas Panhandle Employment Growth Outpaces State Average

A look at the entire Texas Panhandle showed that the unemployment rate dropped to 3.2% in November, which is way below the Texas average of 4.2%. The labor force increased by 6,110 workers in a year. Jobs increased by 5,897. The average hourly wage is $25.53, or $53,102 annually.

These changes mean strong competition for potential workers, and that employers will be competing for qualified workers.
