Your Guide to Summer Fun at Lake Meredith and Alibates in 2026
Amarillo is a great place to live. We’re centrally located on I-40, and that makes it easy to take a quick trip for a weekend or even just a summer day. Amarillo doesn’t really have a public lake of its own unless you happen to live on Lake Tanglewood. We are lucky that Lake Meredith is a short drive from the city. Plus, Lake Meredith is completely free to visit.
Lake Meredith’s Summer Event Lineup
Every summer, Lake Meredith has a ton of events that keep everyone coming back. Whether it’s a day of fishing, boating, camping, or just hanging out on the shore, there’s always something going on. Plus, make it more than just a lake trip by visiting the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument.
The lake itself is worth the trip, but the added events and activities make summer out there even better.
