If you have recently traveled down Amarillo's South Bell Street near McCormick, you have probably driven by Maxwell's Pumpkin Farm. Now, during the off-season, it doesn't look like it does when Fall is in full swing or the Christmas lights are shining bright.

It's there doing what it does when there are no pumpkins or twinkle lights. However, they stay busy preparing the land and the facility for when the doors open in September to bring joy to thousands of families.

What's Being Built at Maxwell's Pumpkin Farm?

But if you have driven by, you might have noticed that a large structure is being built on the farm. It got us curious and asking questions. So instead of just trying to figure it out on our own, we went straight to the sources and asked the master of the pumpkin farm himself.

What Did the Owner Say?

What are you building on the pumpkin farm?

The owner, Larry Borger, gave me an answer:

The big project you mentioned under construction, that grand opening will be in the fall of 2027!

Why It's Still a Mystery

I'm sure you had the same reaction I had when I read that message. That wasn't the answer we were looking for, but it was an answer, and now we all have something to look forward to and anticipate in 2027. It must be something good because it is going to take a year to build.

What's Coming for the 2026 Season

However, with that said, Larry wanted me to remind everyone that Maxwell's Pumpkin Farm will be opening for the 2026 season on Saturday, September 26. This will be the 19th year for Maxwell's in Amarillo. Here is what we get to look forward to this year at Maxwell's. This year will be a celebration of the USA's 250th birthday.
