Northeast Amarillo is About to Get Saucy with a New Wing Destination

Amarillo has a large choice for dining, just about everything under the sun is available to eat.  However, one of the great go-to choices is wings.  Wings are a very versatile food.

What are the Origins of Buffalo Wings?

• It's believed that Buffalo Wings were invented in Buffalo, New York in 1964,  hence the name.  Legend has it Teressa Bellissimo, a bar in New York came up with the idea after her hungry son and friends came into the bar asking for something to eat.  She took a chicken wing, cut them up, fried them, and covered them in a sauce and served them up with blue cheese and celery.  Buffalo Wings were born.
• That's one of the stories, another tells the tale of John Young restaurant owner in Buffalo, who created his wings in 1963, fried whole and topped with a sauce.  Young and Bellissimo had a friend connection, and some say that's where Bellissimo got her idea.
• The third has wings beginning in the Mediterranean in the 5th Century.

No matter the beginnings, Buffalo Wings became popular worldwide.  Nowadays people just refer to them as wings, and Amarillo has many locations where you can get wings and one of those places is Wingstop.

Wingstop is Expanding in Amarillo

While many Amarillo restaurants serve wings, Wingstop's specialty is wings and that's all they sell.  Currently, there are 4 Wing Stops in the area.

Now Wing Stop will be available to the Northeast side of Amarillo.

According to the Licensing Department, Wing Stop will open at 3505 NE 24th, Suite #800.  It is going next to the former Tri's Market.  It should be finished by the Fall of 2025.
