JC Penny In Westgate To Re-Open As Retailer Closes 200 Locations
JC Penny is prepping to open their Amarillo Westgate Mall location May 13, just as the company plans to file for bankruptcy additionally closing 212 of their 850 stores nationwide. The majority of the retailers 85,000 employees have been furloughed since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. JC Penny did not release the list of stores planned for closure.
JC Penny Amarillo plans to adhere to CDC guidelines throughout its store maintaining a safe environment to work and shop and will create a contact free curb side pickup, extensive nightly cleaning of the store. Social distancing will be enforced with reminders throughout the store and mall. Contact-less checkout will be available at registers with Plexiglas barriers installed. All associates have been retrained on current safety practices. All employees will be provided with face masks and are required to wear them on duty. Sanitizing stations are placed throughout the store.
The Westgate Mall JC Penny will be open Monday through Saturday from noon until 7 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM.
Extended return policy and a longer window to use customer rewards has be established.
CDC GUIDELINES FOR RETAIL WORKERS:
Pre-Screen: Employers should measure the employee’s temperature and assess symptoms prior to them starting work. Ideally, temperature checks should happen before the individual enters the facility.
Regular Monitoring: As long as the employee doesn’t have a temperature or symptoms, they should self-monitor under the supervision of their employer’s occupational health program.
Wear a Mask: The employee should wear a face mask at all times while in the workplace for 14 days after last exposure. Employers can issue facemasks or can approve employees’ supplied cloth face coverings in the event of shortages.
Social Distance: The employee should maintain 6 feet and practice social distancing as work duties permit in the workplace.
Disinfect and Clean work spaces: Clean and disinfect all areas such as offices, bathrooms, common areas, shared electronic equipment routinely.
