Living With Autism: Sensory Overload
Every now and then I learn something new about autism. As I have told you before I have a son living with a form of autism. I don't fully understand him most of the time. I don't understand how one day we can go shopping or go get him a hair cut and he is fine, and another day he has a full on meltdown. Then this video came across my Facebook feed and it all made sense. This is what sensory overload feels like to a person with autism.
I cannot imagine living with this on a daily basis. This just makes me want to squeeze my little man so tight. Not only do I finally have a sense of what he is going through. I now know to ask him how he is feeling before I take him to the store or to get a haircut. If he is tired and grumpy the trip will not end well.
