Move over Popeye’s and Wendy’s, Mc Donald’s is about to launch not one but three new chicken sandwiches.  Church’s Chicken recently launched their new version as well. McDonald’s is getting into the chicken wars now.

McDonald’s announced three versions of a new chicken sandwich, which will be available in Amarillo February 24. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich topped with pickles and served on a potato roll, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, which adds a spicy pepper sauce, and the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich, which comes with lettuce, tomatoes and mayonnaise.

McDonald’s also plans to streamline drive thrus with a faster service model. Details on how they were making improvements were not released.

Also this month McDonald’s is offering local teachers free coffee and baked goods.

“We are honored to support our local teachers who have overcome many challenges amid the pandemic and have continued to adapt their teaching models to educate the students in the community,” said Mark McBee, a McDonald’s owner. “These educators are truly the backbone of our community and we are proud to show our appreciation any way we can.”

With a school I.D., teachers can get a free apple fritter, blueberry muffin or cinnamon roll, complete with a hot coffee of any size.

“These new menu items are available all day long and whether teachers are looking for a sweet complement to their morning coffee, an afternoon pick-me-up following a long day in the classroom, or just deserving of a sweet treat, this new lineup offers them a self-indulgent break,” the company said.

The free unlimited “Thank You Treats” are available from Jan. 6 to 15.
