Miles Teller has a movie he's very proud of this year. That movie is 'Whiplash,' a movie about the dysfunctional relationship between a jazz drummer and his demented teacher. He says of all the training he put into the film, "It was, by far, the hardest thing I’ve ever done." Miles Teller also has a movie he's not very proud of. That movie is the young adult hit 'Divergent,' which Teller says left him feeling "dead inside."

These harsh words came during an interview with W Magazine and Teller elaborated on how 'Divergent' was totally harshing his mellow.

I didn’t have an interesting part, and I’d taken the film for business reasons: It was the first movie I’d done that was going to have an international audience. I called my agent and said, “This sucks.”

Not mentioned is the healthy paycheck he likely received for duties. But, it's not all about the paycheck! It's all about the art, man, and Teller's agent was able to get him in to audition for 'Whiplash' when original star, Dane DeHaan, was forced to pass (to star in 'Amazing Spider-Man 2,' which very likely left him feeling dead inside as well). He shed his 'Divergent' physique at the instruction of his 'Whiplash' director Damien Chazelle, who told him to stop working out. "He wanted me pale and doughy. This is the first movie where I shut myself off from the world." Teller describes this preparation as "the hardest thing I've ever done." (How is this not the easiest thing he's done? Not working out, sitting around your apartment and eating donuts seems like probably the easiest thing ever. We say that from experience.)

Unfortunately for Teller, he's not done with the 'Divergent' universe and, after he wraps on the 'Fantastic Four' reboot, he's headed to Atlanta to begin work on 'Insurgent,' the 'Divergent' sequel, which should totally not be awkward at all.

UPDATE: Teller has responded on Twitter, contradicting his own quote from the article in question.
