Everyone knows that the job market right now is difficult to navigate. Finding jobs can be difficult. The interview and hiring process can be frustrating, and it doesn't seem like there's much hope in sight.

One of the things that can hold you back is a college degree. Whether you don't have one or have one that isn't doing much for you, it can feel like you don't have many options without one. In Texas, that isn't necessarily the case.

Why Texas Is Ideal for Job Seekers Without Degrees

Three of the top five cities for people looking for work without going to college are in Texas. The Lone Star State ranks among the best in the nation for entry-level jobs that don’t require a degree.

This is all according to a recent study by K12, a leader in online education. They compared metrics of 99 cities in the U.S. to narrow down the ones that give the most opportunities to graduates considering skipping college.

The cities in Texas that made it into the top five in the study are Dallas (#3), Irving (#4), and Garland (#5). The main reason is the number of entry-level job listings that don't require a college degree.

Another area where Texas excels is the number of trade schools available. According to K12, Texas has 79 different trade schools.

With the cost of college being what it is, and going up every year, finding a different route is very appealing. I've talked to my kids several times about pursuing a trade instead of a traditional college path for that very reason.
