As of this moment, all of the trails in Palo Duro Canyon are still closed. They've been closed since April 26 and will continue to be until they've dried enough to be safe again.

The road from Fortress Cliff to the Cactus Day Use Area is closed until further notice as well. There's not much going on in the canyon at the moment.

The Visitor's Center is still open, and you can still visit the Trading Post. Also, the Big Cave is still open. If you just have to get out and get some sunshine, the Big Cave is worth a trip.

Other than that, there's not much to do. When it rains in the canyon, trails are closed to protect us and to protect the trails. It's a necessary bummer.

Hopefully, the trails will open up soon and we can enjoy some warm weather in the canyon. Once they're open, I hope they stay open for a while. There was a lot of trails opening and closing last year.

To keep up with the latest, check the park alerts at the Palo Duro Canyon website or follow Palo Duro Canyon State Park on social media.
