Project Sunset In Amarillo Continues To Make Major Progress
It was my first outing in my new home; a first Friday art walk at Arts in the Sunset. While I appreciate the arts, the major deciding factor was that the ticket price was free. After that first trip, it became a monthly ritual. That being said, Arts in the Sunset has a special place in my heart.
So I'm really glad to see Project Sunset continuing to make major progress.
The Renovations Continue At Sunset
While the project isn't finished quite yet, there has been major progress made. Classes are being held. Exhibitions are happening. First Friday art walks are back.
In fact, it was the recent announcement of one exhibition that made me curious as to just how far the renovations had come since last time I checked.
There's a lot to be excited about.
Sidewalks Never Were This Exciting
Last month was an official ribbon cutting. April also saw the addition of brand new sidewalks.
If you look at Project Sunset's Facebook page, you can see a lot of the progress that's been made. On the inside, walls have gone up. Windows have been installed. They've got doors. Of course, there's a mural that has been painted on the outside.
Most importantly, the stained glass still stands.
It's all fantastic news, and it looks great. I was there when the demolition started on parts of the center. It was sad, but at the same time it has been quite the ride watching as renovations were done.
I'm looking forward to many more years of enjoying all the art in the Sunset that I can.
