We've been fortunate in Amarillo, Texas, so far this winter. It's been pretty mild and not too cold, for the most part. This week, though, that could all change. After the recent tiny tease of snow we saw in Amarillo, should we finally get ready to see good snow in the area?

Will Amarillo, Texas See More Snow This Week?

I was shocked when I woke up over the weekend to see a little bit of snow gathered in random patches across my backyard. It marked the first time this winter that I had seen any. If current forecasts hold, it won't be the last time we see it this week.

The National Weather Service Amarillo put out information earlier today saying we could possibly see a little more tomorrow (Tuesday 1/7) into Wednesday, and then we could see even more on Thursday. If you've been hoping for snow, your time could finally be here.

How Much Snow Will Amarillo Get This Week?

According to the information shared by National Weather Service Amarillo, you shouldn't get your hopes up too high for a lot of snow. The amounts that we're supposed to get aren't anything to brag about.

Tomorrow (1/7), Amarillo has a chance for anything between a dusting and half an inch of snow. Thursday into Friday our chances look a little bit better for a good inch of sky powder.

It's nice that winter is finally starting to feel like winter in the Texas panhandle. It's finally cold enough for me to enjoy a nice pot of stew or potato soup at the house. I can fire up my oven without complaining about how hot it makes my kitchen. Hopefully this week we finally get to see the snow we've been waiting so long for.
