Hunger in the Texas Panhandle is something that isn't going away.  Food is needed on a daily basis and people are going hungry.  Twenty-One years ago the National Association of Letter Carriers started an event called Stamp Out Hunger to help out the hungry and this Saturday they will continue that tradition and will collect food for the High Plains Food Bank.

This event goes on nationwide but the food they collect here in Amarillo on Saturday will go to the High Plains Food Bank.

So how do you get involved?

Put together a  bag of non-perishable food items, and then place them by your mailbox on Saturday morning and your letter carrier will pick it up.

Here is a list of non-perishable food items most needed at the High Plains Food Bank at the moment:

Canned Vegetables
Canned Fruit
Canned proteins
Bagged rice
Bagged beans
