‘Star Trek: The Art Of Juan Ortiz’ – A Book Every Fan And Art Lover Needs
'Star Trek: The Art of Juan Ortiz' is one of those books that combines two passions of mine, Star Trek and art.
I have been waiting for this book to hit Barnes and Noble, but they never had any in stock, so I went to their website and finally 'pulled the trigger' and ordered it.
I'm glad I did, because this is one of a handful of Trek books that are my favorites.
Here's the concept:
What if every episode of Star Trek was turned into a movie poster?
All 80 episodes of the original series (1966-1969) are presented in a nice, over sized, coffee table book.
The really neat part of the book is at the end, where artist Juan Ortiz walks you through the 'style' or inspiration behind each episodes 'poster.' Styles include; pulp novel, comic book and retro.
I've enjoyed this book so much that I now plan on ordering it's companion piece, the 16-month 'Engagement Calender.'
Here's hoping Ortiz's next poster book with be for 'Star Trek: The Next Generation.'
This is for the 19th episode from the first season episode 'Tomorrow is Yesterday.'
