The new “adult” Muppets series didn’t exactly pan out for ABC, so the franchise might need a bit of rehab with by returning to youngest generation. Enter a new Muppet Babies TV series in the works for 2018, the first photo of which feel much more familiar that the last series ever could.
ABC’s upcoming Muppets mockumentary series only had so much to show at its recent Comic-Con 2015 panel, but with an actual premiere as far away as September, Kermit, Ms. Piggy, Gonzo and the gang dug deep for a special preview. Before green screens became the norm, the Dagobah set for ‘The Empire Strikes Back’ was built elevated off the ground to accommodate Yoda’s puppeteers. And before he brought Yoda to life, puppeteer and voice actor Frank Oz was best known as the man behind Miss Piggy. In a weird way, that makes the most wizened character in the ‘Star Wars’ universe a distant relative of the extended Muppet family.
