The concern with this bill is that it breaches the separation of Church and State that was established in the Constitution. Those who oppose the bill point out that a sacred text from only one religion is being sanctioned text for mandatory display.

A group of 166 faith leaders in Texas came together to urge Texas lawmakers to reject Senate Bill 10. The consensus among these faith leaders is that religion is the responsibility of families and religious institutions. They don't want the government involved in religion. That includes mandating which religious text is mandated to be displayed in every school.

What Happens Now To Senate Bill 10?

Senate Bill 10, now that it has passed in the Senate, will head to the Texas House of Representatives. There, it will be debated and voted on. It's still too soon to know whether or not this will become law in Texas.
