One of the great Christmas traditions in Amarillo is the Center City Electric Light Parade.  Depending on the year and the weather, every one bundles up and lines up on Polk and 3rd Street to enjoy the amazing lighted floats.

The Center City Electric Light Parade returns, so put it on your calendars and get ready for an evening of Christmas fun for the entire family.

WHEN: Friday, December 1st, 6pm

WHERE: Downtown on Polk St. The route will start at 11th and Polk continuing north to 3rd then east to the north Civic Center parking lot.

COST: Nothing, absolutely free.

This year the theme will be Songs of the Season II.  Last year's theme was Songs of the Season, but due to the extreme temperatures that weekend the parade was cancelled.  That was the second time the parade had been cancelled in 20 years.    So this year they are expecting some awesome floats.  The parade floats will be decorated and themed after some of your favorite Christmas songs. So look for great songs like Joy to the World, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer all come to life.

Bring your family, lawn chairs, blankets, beverages

Get there early to get the best seats.

Don't forget that after the parade make your way over to the North Civic Center parking lot. Santa will be there visiting with the kids and the Mayor will light the Amarillo City Christmas tree.

Once the parade is over, don't forget you can have dinner downtown and one of the many restaurants. Grab some coffee or hot chocolate from Palace Coffee House or just have a drink or two if you don't have the kids at one of the many establishments. A great way to have fun and support our local downtown businesses.
