That is the question we asked ourselves this past weekend. My grandbaby is six months old and it's time to think about starting her on something more than formula and a little bit of cereal.

My daughter gets to start introducing vegetables and fruits into her diet. Being a first time mom she wants to try her hand at making her own baby food. Of course this way she knows exactly what is in her food. Which is always a concern.

Making Baby Food is Better Because I Know What is in it

I mean we had to deal with the big Similac recall. We still have cans to return. So this way if we buy the fruits and vegetables we are a step in the right direction. The one thing my daughter wanted for Christmas was a Baby Bullet.

I know a blender would do the same thing but she uses that so much anyway. It would be nice to have a separate blender for her smoothies and the Bullet for baby food.

We had the discussion of starting her off on vegetables. Oh and she knows to introduce one type of food at a time. This way she knows right away if her daughter is allergic to something. That is a concern because her father has a few food allergies himself.

So we started this weekend with sweet potatoes. I am trying to push my Instant Pot loving self on her. It sure makes preparing the sweet potatoes so much easier. I showed her how she could do that on the stove top too.

We are going to work on preparing baby food and freezing it to eat throughout the week. We made some carrots. Our first fruit will be making applesauce.

It really wasn't as time consuming as I thought it might be. So I think this may be doable for my daughter to keep up with. The true test was when Laila tried it for the first time.

She was a fan.

Making baby food was easy and I hope my daughter really can keep up with it. If not we know there are great baby foods out there for her.
