Two Birds; One Donation. How To Save Lives And Help Amarillo.
We're all familiar with the "save lives" messaging of Coffee Memorial Blood Center. We all know by now that donating blood saves lives. But there's more to it than that.
You can save lives, and help the community as a whole.
Coffee Memorial Blood Center's Greater Good Program
You may not remember, but earlier this year Coffee Memorial Blood Center kicked off their program titled, "Greater Good." The idea is a pretty simple one.
Donor groups pick a non-profit organization. Then, as blood donations come in, money is donated to the non-profit.
The donor group needs to have at least 15 successful donations. Then, Coffee Memorial makes a $10 to $15 donation to the non-profit.
Pretty simple concept.
The Program Has Been A Success For Area Non-Profits
For instance, in a press release issued by Coffee Memorial Blood Center they pointed out that recently a check for over $4,700 was awarded to the Texas Panhandle 100 Club. Since January, they've awarded over $43,000 to area non-profits.
The non-profits have represented causes ranging from animal welfare to youth services and poverty relief.
A Cheaper Way To Help Out The Community
That's exactly what's being offered. Right now, a lot of us are trying to stretch our dollars further. The cost of everything seems to be going up.
Unfortunately, that means some of us are making decisions on whether or not to make donations to area non-profits that we usually support.
This is an opportunity for you to score a "double-whammy," if you'll allow the expression. Not only can you help out your favorite non-profit, but you also help make sure our area has the much needed blood supply.
