What Country Wants to Remove Dirty Words From the Internet?
The Internet without dirty words? Can you imagine?
Russia is considering a law that would punish people for using foul language online:
...the pages full of posts and messages containing swear words, will have to be blocked within 24 hours, if harmful information is not deleted. This should apply to pages on social networks, websites, and various forums.
This move would follow a law passed in Russia last year, in which the country barred sites that provided information about drugs, suicide and child pornography. So, if a site uses foul language that is not taken down, it can join the list of blackballed sites.
Would this ever fly in the US? Aside from the whole “freedom of expression” thing, the comment section of any article would probably be devoid of any comments.
