What The City Of Amarillo Is Doing To Prepare For More Snow
The winter storm we had last week left a lot of people concerned about how prepared the City was to deal with the aftermath. With the arctic blast barreling toward us, a lot of people are wondering what the City is doing to prepare for this weekend. The City of Amarillo is doing its best to get ahead of the frigid weather.
What Steps Is The City Taking To Prepare For The Arctic Blast
Critics of the City of Amarillo's handling of the deluge of snow we received have been asking what the City is doing to prepare for the insanely cold weather and potential snow forecast for this weekend. Today, the City gave an update.

The City is getting ahead of this. They've been doing maintenance on ice and snow response vehicles. They've been stocking up on sand and salt. Crews are keeping their eyes on the situation and are ready to start tackling the snow once it starts falling.
The update also pointed out that the City doesn't clear residential roads unless they're near a school or if they're in an area with snow drifts. Just something to keep in mind.
Do What YOU Can To Prepare For This Weekend
It should go without saying at this point, but you should do all you can to prepare for this weekend. There's potential for below-zero windchill, more snow, and temperatures that never get above freezing. It's going to be brutal.
It might not be a bad idea to salt your sidewalk, driveway, and porch. Leave your faucets on a slow drip. Open cabinets to let pipes access heat. Have an emergency kit in your car just in case.
Don't leave your pets outside, and be sure to check on any elderly persons you might know. Get ready to spend a couple of days hopefully inside on the couch with a blanket binge watching TV with a bowl of soup.
