Why Oklahoma Seems Pretty Happy With Texas’ Slow Invasion
Scrolling through Facebook this morning, a bit news out of Oklahoma caught my eye. It looks like a Texas staple is increasing the size of its footprint in the Sooner State.
Whataburger is continuing the slow invasion of Texas into Oklahoma.
A New Whataburger Opening In Western Oklahoma
According to a post from the Weatherford, Oklahoma Weatherford Daily News, a new Whataburger is confirmed to be popping up soon. Of course, they reserve the rest of the details for their weekend edition.
Mixed Emotions From Our Neighbors To The East
Oddly enough, among the posts and comments screaming, "hell yeah," there are plenty of posts asking one question:
"Another burger joint?!"
They sound like us when it comes to a new coffee shop opening up in Amarillo. It's interesting what we can find we have in common with our neighbors.
Not The Only Whataburger In Oklahoma
Oklahoma City is covered in Whataburgers. There's a couple in Lawton. I grew up traveling an hour to go to the one in Altus.
Tulsa is riddled with Whataburgers. If you're headed towards Shawnee, there's one you can hit before you go stop at the casino they have.
Stillwater, home of the Oklahoma State University Cowboys, has its own Whataburger.
How Long Before We Just Annex The Sooner State?
Now we just need to slap a Buc-ee's or three along I-40, and I'm pretty sure we could just call Oklahoma our own.
Congrats to Weatherford, Oklahoma and the rest of my old stomping grounds on getting another Whataburger in the area. Enjoy.
