The Powerball and Mega Millions rolls on... one gentleman in North Texas did manage to win a consolation prize of a million bucks, now if he had megaplied he would have doubled his winnings... I'd be okay with 2 million. or even just the million. I'd pay off my house note, car, make sure my kids could go to college and set the rest of it aside to retire on later and head back to work the next day.

Now if you want to win... the odds aren't really in your favor. Let's make the math simple, your odds for the Mega Millions are roughly 1 in 302 million, and the powerball isn't much better at 1 in 296 million.

The US population is 330+ million for perspective.

There are plenty of other things you would have better odds at in life than the lotto.

Let's start with the simple. Let's say you didn't become a millionaire but wanted to end up with one... not a bad consolation right? well. luck is actually on your side... the odds of marrying a millionare are 1 in 215

Maybe you could try your luck at the PGA. there's money for coming in dead last even. usually you could walk away with a few grand. not bad for a day of chasing the ball around 18 holes. It's not out of the question you might even get a hole in one doing it! lets make that a 1 in 5000 chance...

Now, you could get hit by lightning while you play... that would be 1 in 960,000 and that's still not remotely close to what lotto odds are..

Let's really reach deep into the bag here. The odds of alien life or abduction are still less that winning the Powerball or Mega Millions. in the 1 in 100,000,000 range and for one company... that's a perfectly good excuse to sell alien abduction insurance

Winning both the Powerball and Mega Millions? well I'm not sure my calculator has enough numbers in the display...

But hey... You can't win if you don't play right?
