Amarillo Desperately Needs A Lot More Late Night Places To Eat At
When it comes to dining in Amarillo really late at night, you're options are pretty limited. Granted, most of the people up that late are part of the bar crowd. You're not interested in fine dining at 3 AM. Still, it would be great to have more options.
Chain Breakfasts Are Okay...Sometimes
I love Waffle House. Let's get that clear. It's one of my favorite places to eat at. I'm glad they were open at 4 AM when my son was in the hospital and I could sneak away to get something to eat for a few minutes.
iHop also gets a pass from me most of the time, especially late at night. Forget trying to go to an iHop on any given Sunday after the sun has come up. The wait is insane. If you're craving iHop, wait until 3 AM to go.
Denny's is one that's tough for me. A handful of bad experiences at different Denny's, and I don't go as much as I used to.
I Would Cook If Walmart Would Stay Open
This is the real rub. If we just had a Walmart in town that was "with the times" and open 24 hours, as God intended, then I would just swing by the store and get what I need to make my own food.
Unfortunately, at the moment, we do not have a 24 hour Walmart. It's a real shame.
We Need An Old Time 24 Hour Diner
We need a real good, old fashioned, 24 hour Diner. I grew up around a couple. One was called Ryan's. Any time of day you could order anything from breakfast to liver and onions. The was was simply called, The Kettle.
The Kettle was a nice little dive that was a lot like Ryans with their chicken fry, liver and onions, and never ending breakfast menu.
I would love to see a place like that here. If it exists, I've yet to find it.
