Amarillo Masonic Penny Stamp

According to the listing, this stamping die is from 1912. Personally, I think it would be cool to have in a collection.

I wouldn't recommend using the stamp and trying to pass off a homemade coin as the real deal though.

Amarillo PGA Membership Pin

I did a little digging based on the date on this pin, and the winner of the Texas P.G.A. that year was Texas golf legend, Byron Nelson. He was active from 1935 to 1946 and is considered by many to be one of the greatest golfers of all time.

Check this one out. If you aren't familiar with what anything means on this card, that's ok. Follow this link for some people that may be able to answer most of your questions. This card dates back to 1936.

The Oprah In Amarillo Commemorative Cup

We don't really need to go into the history of Oprah and Amarillo. It's been covered at length, and let's just say at one time the two didn't really seem to be getting along all that well.

This coffee cup commemorates the tiff between the queen of daytime talk and Yellow City.

The thing I find most interesting is the URL on the cup that, by today's standards, seems a bit redundant. Amarillonet.com is definitely a URL from a different era.

Will Rogers Pageant And Reminder Of The Mother Road

A Will Rogers pageant isn't anything odd for this area. What caught my eye was the logo on the top left. It says "U.S. 66 Will Rogers Memorial Highway."

What many people may not know, or remember, is that at one point Route 66 was renamed the Will Rogers Memorial Highway.

Now you know.

I'm including this because of one quote. Upon seeing this photo, a coworker of mine quipped, "That's the kind of stuff you buy to put on the walls at Cracker Barrel."

Touche'.

Looking back at 1931 we notice a couple of things. One, it's apparently very windy (possibly cold) in May at that time. Two, we find that praise of our police is nothing new.

Here we see high praise for our officers' excellent eyesight and attention to detail.

This official American Legion membership card was issued in 1931. On the back it has the preamble to the Constitution, and it lists the yearly dues as $1.

Vintage Liberty Cafe Card And Poem

This is hands down my favorite item. It has a picture of the infamous character Alfred E. Neuman with the caption "M.L. 'Big Foot' Davis, Owner-MGR."

The Liberty Cafe is hailed as Amarillo's distinguished dine & dance, and on the back of the card there's a little good advice.
