Amarillo Parks Needs You; Volunteer for Zoo Cleanup Day!
The Amarillo Zoo is a beloved piece of Amarillo for many. My kids enjoy taking the occasional walk through the zoo, looking at all of the animals. It's one of our go-to activities when the weather is really nice outside. Amarillo Parks and Recreation is giving all of us who enjoy spending time at the zoo the opportunity to give back during an upcoming cleanup day.
Amarillo Zoo Cleanup Day Is This Month
On September 28, Amarillo Parks and Recreation hopes to gather a group of volunteers to take care of a little cleanup at the Amarillo Zoo. I know you're wondering, and no you will not be coming into "direct contact" with the animals. You'll be focusing more on the parts of the zoo that have to do with people.
Volunteers will be handling some raking, sweeping, garden maintenance, general cleaning, trash collecting, and minor repairs and painting. Nothing too intense, and if enough people show up it shouldn't take too long to take care of. It will require you to wake up early enough to make a 9 AM roll call.
How To Sign Up For The Amarillo Zoo Cleanup Day In September
The Zoo cleanup will take place on September 28, 2024 starting at 9 AM at the Amarillo Zoo. If you're needing volunteer hours for whatever reason, this would be a pretty good way to get them. The best way to get more information and to sign up is to follow this link.
There is another cleanup day that will be taking place on September 21 at the 9th Street Trails for National Clean-Up Day. You can find out more by following this link to the Amarillo Parks and Recreation Park Clean-Up page.
