We often hear how donating blood saves lives. In Amarillo, we're constantly reminded to attend blood drives or visit Coffee Memorial Blood Center to donate and help keep our blood supply up. Now, thanks to a new app, donating blood not only saves lives but also helps first responders. It's a feel-good "win-win" situation. It's all thanks to a new app called Donable Cares.
How Your Blood Donation Helps Area Firefighters And Law Enforcement
We all know that blood donations are used to help those who are in the care of a hospital and need blood. Thanks to the app Donable Cares, those donations now also help out firefighters and law enforcement. The way it works is simple. You use the app, complete your blood donation, and then a donation is made to the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.
According to a press release regarding the new app, the app registers when you've successfully completed a blood donation and then makes a $15 donation to the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle. So, now your donation at Coffee Memorial Blood Center is helping more people.
The program is rolling out on Thursday (8/29) and Friday (8/30).
