This weekend, Amarillo Little Theater is having their production of Matilda The Musical. It kicks off on Thursday. Unfortunately, tickets are hard to come by.

That's because they sold out last week. I even went and checked the ALT website for myself. Sure enough, every single date is sold out.

After the show sold out, a Facebook group was created to help people find tickets. If someone wasn't able to make it or needed to swap for a different day, the hope is that you could coordinate online.

I guess we could call it "Matilda Mania" in Amarillo.

The film Matilda was a big success, and many of us look back fondly on it. It's based on the children's book by Roald Dahl.

The musical follows the same story...just with a lot more singing and dancing.

I went on YouTube and looked up some of the songs, and I have to admit this looks like it would be pretty entertaining. If, you were fortunate enough to get tickets.

If you're wanting to go, you can call the Amarillo Little Theater box office and get on a list, or join the Facebook group and post how many tickets you are needing and for what performance.

The Amarillo Little Theater does mention that they will be requiring face coverings, and they are sitting people in "bubbles" to help with social distancing even with the increased occupancy limits.

It is nice to see people getting out to enjoy things in Amarillo again, even if we have to do so with masks and social distancing. After a year of cancellations and postponements, now we get to talk about sold out shows at Amarillo Little Theater.

It's a nice turn around from 2020, and it's nice seeing people in Amarillo get out to support the arts.
