Preppers Rejoice! There’s A Tax Holiday This Weekend In Texas Just For You.
Thinking about and preparing for doomsday is a pastime enjoyed by many, including some of us in Texas. We even have companies in the Lone Star State that will design the bunker of your dreams. If you enjoy thinking about and prepping for the end of times, or any emergency for that matter, there is a tax-free weekend in Texas just for you. Isn't that exciting?
Emergency Preparedness Tax Holiday This Weekend In Texas This Weekend
The prepping party kicks off on April 27 at 12:01 AM. That's tomorrow (Saturday). Just like you see in the movies when disaster strikes, you'll have a short window of time to gather as much supplies as possible. It only lasts through Monday, April 29 at midnight. At that point, the tax-free fairies go back to their magical bunkers and wait for next year.
All joking aside, this tax holiday couldn't come at a better time. In all reality, we face a lot in the Lone Star State. Tornadoes, wildfires, and hurricanes just scratch the surface. This is honestly a good time to stock up.
What Items Can You Get Tax Free This Weekend?
The list of items you can get tax-free this weekend is pretty long. It covers everything from generators to tarps. You can get the full list at this link. There are some interesting things to take notice of.
Items that are covered that most of us need are:
- Batteries (single or multi-pack AAA, AA, C, D, 6V, 9V)
- Nonelectric Can Openers
- First Aid Kits
- Fire Extinguishers
- Smoke Detectors
The list goes on. There are some items that you might think are covered but aren't. Things like camping supplies and toilet paper are not included in the tax holiday. I think toilet paper should be. Remember that thing that happened a couple of years ago when nobody could find toilet paper thanks to the hoarders raiding stores? Remember major retailers rationing tp? Come to think of it, maybe that's why they aren't including it in the tax holiday. Maybe it would just incentivize the hoarders to strike at a discount.
Before you go out shopping this weekend, be sure to look at this link to the official page for information on what purchases are included in the tax holiday, and which ones aren't.
Happy prepping!
