Fire Destroys the Home of Dedicated Humane Society Foster
The 4th of July is a fun holiday to celebrate. Food, fun, parades, and fireworks make it a good time. Once a fire starts, the good time ends and someone suffers.
A family in Amarillo has lost their home. Over the weekend fireworks fun for someone turned into a tragedy for another.
Ricky and Jennifer Houck are now without a home. Their home burned down and they lost everything. Some of their pets were also killed in the fire.
According to a comment from a family friend on the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society post:
They lost everything, and if Jennifer hadn't been asleep in the living room, she wouldn't have made it!!! She told her neighbors to be careful bc they [fireworks] were hitting her house in the front, she fell asleep on the couch, the fire started behind the house. Two sheds, the master bath and her bedroom was fully engulfed before the smoke alarm went off. She and the few pets that got out, barely got out!!
The family has set up a GoFundMe account to help this family.
This is a family who gives of their time to help make sure that animals here in our community have a safe place to stay until they can find them a forever home. It takes a big heart to open your home to these animals.
Now they are asking you to open your hearts to help a family recover from this devastating fire.
