One of my favorite movies from the 80's is BeetlejuiceMichael Keaton was awesome playing this crazy dead character that caused all sorts of trouble in the world of the dead.  Of course, who could forget the crazy dance he caused at the dining table to Day O (the Banana Boat Song), or trying to take Winona Ryder as a bride.  Plus, I think this movie was the skinniest Alec Baldwin had ever been.  Rumor has it that after 23 years, we may finally see a sequel to the 1988 hit.

According to a recent article on deadline.com:

KatzSmith Productions partners David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith have just signed a two-year first-look feature producing deal at Warner Bros. While rights are still being worked out, one of their first projects is expected to be a sequel to Beetlejuice, the 1988 Tim Burton-directed hit that starred Michael Keaton as a ghoul hired by a recently deceased couple to drive the new owners out of their house.  The film will not be a remake; the intention is to reboot it by advancing the storyline of the original, which was done by The Geffen Company and Warner Bros.

Does this mean we will see Beetlejuice's head blown back up to original size?  Will Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis return to help another unfortunate couple defeat Beetlejuice?  Will Winona Ryder return as a medium 23 years later?

Who knows but I'm definitely excited about this one.  It's been a while since we have seen Michael Keaton in a great role and I hope they bring him back as well.  It wouldn't be Beetlejuice without Michael Keaton.

So are you excited about a squeal.  I know I am.  I'm super excited about this and the new Ghostbusters movie.
