If you live or commute through Amarillo’s northwestern quadrant, get ready to be met with construction delays. Through the end of September, the northwest seal coat project will be working daily weather permitting. The project will span the majority of northwest Amarillo, as well as segments of S. Western Street from Interstate 27 to Arden Road, and SW Third Avenue from Taylor Street to Grant Street.

While the contract for the roadwork includes provisions to minimize the impact of those living and working in that section of Amarillo, you should still be prepared for delays. Look for flagmen directing traffic, work zones, and posted signs. The city is also advising that at times it maybe necessary to find alternate routes due to temporary roadway closures.

In the works for several years, the project is part of the 2017-2021 Community Investment Program that was funded by Proposition 1, which was approved by voters in November of 2016.
