Hix Road Construction Impacts Travelers In Texas Panhandle
Everyone who lives in the Texas panhandle is accustomed, unfortunately, to the seemingly non-stop construction that seems to be happening on our roads. Every time you turn around, there seems to be a new project starting. If you travel on Hix Road, I've got some bad news for you.
Construction On Hix Road Will Cause Delays And A Detour For Over A Month
News recently dropped that travelers on Hix Road will need to find another route. This is because a major project is about to start and it will result in a detour. Randall County Road and Bridge will be doing some work that actually needs to be done.

Hix Road 1/2 mile south of 4th Ave/State Highway 217 is where the work will be done. According to the information released, that stretch of road is consistently subjected to flash flooding. When all is said and done there will be new culverts and guardrails.
How Long Will The Construction Last On Hix Road
The bad news is that the project is going to take six weeks before it is complete. For a month and a half, weather permitting, your commute is going to look a little different. Hopefully, there won't be many weather delays once work begins.
Work is scheduled to begin on February 24. If you're traveling from the south, you'll want to take Pondaseta or Cemetery Road. If you're traveling from the north, you'll have access down to the construction area, which will be closed while work is going.
Plan ahead and adjust your travel plans accordingly. Take it slow around any crews you see and give them plenty of space and room to work.
