Palo Duro Canyon State Park just outside of the town of Canyon is still open. As we are looking for new ways to cope with activities being cancelled, staying at home as much as possible, and gatherings being limited, the park can seem like a perfect escape. But before you go, there are some new restrictions you need to know about. In fact, if you don't plan ahead, there is a chance you won't get in at all.

During this time of social distancing, all park offices and stores will be closed to the public. That means you will be limited in some of the amenities you are used to, so plan accordingly. When it comes to entering the park, since the offices are closed, that means you will not be able to roll up and pay at the gate like you are most likely accustomed to. Instead, you will need to purchase a day use or camping pass ahead of time. To make sure the park doesn't get too full, they are also limiting the amount of passes issued. That means you will need to reserve yours in well in advance. From what we are hearing, most weekends run close or sell out of passes.

To reserve your passes and pay online, CLICK HERE to get linked up to the pass page. The fee is $8 per person, age 13 and older. Park gates will be open limited hours from 8am to 5pm. You can also search for other parks on that website throughout Texas.
