As the school year is starting to wind down here in Amarillo families all over are making their summer plans. What you think might be a relaxing summer very rarely turns out to be, especially when you have kids involved.

You want to make sure they are still involved in things. You might be looking for fun activities that you can also sit back and know they are learning a thing or two. You don't have to tell them about that fact, of course.

You already know your child is a performer. There has to be something here in Amarillo that they will just love. That is where the performance of "Song of the Eagle" comes in. The Kawhadi Dancers are looking for members of their cast.

Area youth who are currently in the 5th through 11th grade are invited to train to be a member of the cast of the summer show.  Rehearsals are on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 – 4:30 at the Kwahadi Museum, 9151 I-40 E, in Amarillo.  Come visit a rehearsal!  You’ll be glad you did!

The performances will take place on Saturday nights during June and July so they will get a lot of experience. They will also have a lot of fun.  Did you know this is a big year for the Kwahadi'? Yes, 2024 is the Kwahadi's 80th Anniversary and 20th Anniversary of the Kwahadi Museum, which is a place where youth are the stars.

Let your child be the star. Spend a Sunday afternoon at rehearsal and check it out. You will be glad that you did. A perfect summer experience for the family. They don't even have to know how much they will be gaining from this experience, they will just know they are enjoying their summer.
