Dasher Diary: Amarillo Dasher Warns Others After Scary Fake DoorDash Call
There are days when you are out delivering in Amarillo that you just want to shake your head and ask yourself, ‘Why? That happened recently. I was out trying to make a little extra money, so when something like this slows you down, it’s frustrating.
I had a pickup from Chipotle. When I went in and asked about it, I was told someone had already picked it up. I could’ve gone on the app, unassigned, and moved on. I didn't because I wanted to receive pay for the headache I was about to encounter.
A Strange Pickup Turns Into Something Suspicious
I had received a phone call when I was in Chipotle. It was blocked by my phone as spam or a scam. So I never even knew it rang until I saw the voicemail pop up. The call said DoorDash in my missed calls, but it was not the usual number. So, I was confused.
The Call That Didn’t Seem Right
Here’s the voicemail I received:
Hi Melissa, this is Lynn with DoorDash support. I'm just calling about the order that you're picking up from chipotle for Christian just to let you know they're one of our priority customers and we just wanna make sure that everything goes smoothly. Thank you.
DoorDash Confirms: The Call Was a Scam
When I called the actual DoorDash to unassign from the order that was already picked up and receive my pay at the moment, I also asked about this call. She said that DoorDash would never call me about an order like that.

She also asked me if I wanted to have the restaurant remake the order. I did not. I just wanted to be unassigned. They had to then call Chipotle, and they, too, didn't want to remake the order, so I was clear. They unassigned me and warned me not to ever give out personal info, even if I think it is DoorDash.
Stay Safe: Tips for Amarillo Dashers
I know that there are scams going around where they try to take over my Dasher pay card and drain my account. I do not use a Dasher card for this reason. So even though they tried to call and scam me, they were not going to succeed anyway.
I am just glad that my phone blocked the call, and I didn't even have to deal with it. Be vigilant out there, and even when delivering, never give out information. Keep everything safe.
