They call it our civic duty. A right that not everyone has due to some life choices (in most cases), which makes it even more important.

I'm talking about your right to vote. With the way the political landscape has been the last 5-6 years or so, it feels like it's more important than ever to go out and vote.

I've always felt that if you can vote and you don't cast your ballot, then you can't really complain about who's in office and what they're doing. I remember an election where I didn't make it in. My candidate didn't win. I told myself to keep my mouth shut and deal with it since I didn't do what I should've done.

There is a hotly contested election coming up in Texas. The race for Governor. By all accounts I've seen so far, it's going to be a very close race between incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott and Beto O'Rourke. No matter which side of the fence you're on, your vote could be the difference maker.

With that said, there are some changes taking place at some polling centers in the Amarillo area that you should know about.

One of them is polling places. In Potter County, all of the early voting locations will be the same as the last election. However, when Election Day comes, the Discovery Center and Second Baptist Church won't be polling stations.

In the case of Randall County, Southwest Library will NOT be a voting center for either the early voting portion or on Election Day. However, Region 16 Education Center returns as a voting center.
