What is Going on at 34th and Georgia? Everyone Wants to Know

Georgia Street area is what I like to call my hood. That is my most traveled road. Most every business that I need is close to my home and very convenient for me. So I spend a lot of time in the area and I keep an eye on what is going on.

I am not the only one because I feel the most asked question that I get is what is going on at 34th and Georgia. More specifically the area that is supposed to be Golden Chick and Dalhart Taqueria.

I remember when that area hosted the Georgia Street Mall, or Crafter's Mall, and The Potato Factory. Now there is a Toot n Totum and some empty buildings. The Potato Factory ended up finding a new location on Western.

They jumped at starting the construction of the Golden Chick and Dalhart Taqueria about a year ago and then crickets. They have not been finished. We have not seen any crew working on it. So what is going on? Or more importantly, what is not going on?

The Mitch's BBQ inside the Toot n Totum took a little longer to open but they are now in business. We are just waiting on word from Golden Chick and Dalhart Taqueria.

It's like they just stopped working. Is it the lack of supplies? Is it delays in getting inspectors out? Is it even that far along? I don't think that is the case. There are still no signs up on the building yet. So it is just so frustrating to be driving by and not seeing anything behind done.

Then we end up getting many questions about the state of the businesses. This message came in back in November:

Do you know anything about the delay on the golden chick at 34th and Georgia they haven’t been working on that building for six months.

Then even more recently.

It's a valid question. I tried reaching out to see if I could solve the mystery. Guess what? Crickets there too. So we will keep trying to get an answer. If you have any inside scoop help us out.
