I notice the billboards I see around Amarillo. Some people think they are outdated and an ineffective way to advertise. I disagree. Again, I pay attention to them. Maybe it's because that was part of my job at a company I used to work for.

I mean I dealt with all the billboards we had around town and in other markets. Maybe that is why I notice more. Oh heck, I don't think I am the only one. Especially when it comes to the digital billboards. You know the ones that change messages every few minutes.

Sometimes I drive back around because I might have just caught the board before it changed and I need to know what it says. Maybe that is it.

Who Do We Want to See Run for Mayor of Amarillo?

I saw one a bit ago and I knew exactly what it meant. It said "Alex, please run." That is all it said but I got the message. It was an important one. Asking Alex Fairly to please run for mayor. No surprise there that many people are asking him to run. Even before Ginger Nelson announced she was not running again. Maybe the idea of running against Alex got her a little worried. Maybe not, we will never know.

The other day I drove by and I saw the message "Andrew, please run". I was wondering if I missed something. Who is Andrew? I know a few Andrews. Is the local author and friend Andrew Brandt being asked to run? I mean it wouldn't be absolutely crazy.

Today I drove by and the sign has another name:

Now they are asking for Jason to run. Who is Jason? Is it Jason Boyett? Local podcaster and friend. Again not a far fetch. Who is behind these signs? Did Alex buy up these signs and put random names to keep him from being the center of this? I really don't know.

I am beyond curious and really want to know. Someone knows. Am I just so behind in my Amarillo political news that I should know who Andrew and Jason actually are? Will another name pop up next? What is going on Amarillo? Maybe if I see the billboard say "Melissa, please run" I will now be mixed up in all of this.

Just for the record, I would be excited for Alex, Jason, or Andrew to run for mayor. I am not sure I would know which one to vote for. Really.
