St. Patrick's Day is one of those holidays that doesn't seem to get too much love in Amarillo, which is a shame because it really is a fun holiday.

Sure, you can head out to the bars, drink some green beer and feel festive, but it's not the party you may be looking for.

We all know about the whole wear green thing. Do it and you're safe, don't and you get pinched. However, it seems we don't even pinch anymore due to fear or a lawsuit for assault. Ok, maybe I'm stretching, but it's part of the fun isn't it?

Well, there's one place in the Texas Panhandle who really does it up big for St. Patrick's Day, and they have been for 78 years now. Truthfully, they should be doing it up big.

When the name of your town is Shamrock, you have no other choice but to own St. Patrick's Day.

The Shamrock St. Patrick's Day festival is back this year, aptly named "Shamrock Thrives In '25", and they're leaving no blarney stone unturned.

The four day party unofficially kicks off on Thursday, March 13th with the carnival opening up at 5 pm and running until 10 pm, so take the kiddos out for the family fun.

The official start is Friday, March 14 when the doors open up for the Kick-Off Banquet and debut of Miss Irish Rose. There will also be live music by Seth Ward & The Silence where you can dance the night away starting at 8 pm.

Saturday, March 15th is when it kicks into high gear with a plethora of events to choose from. The Knights of Columbus 5K run/walk kicks the day off at 8 am, a beard contest at 10 am, the St. Patrick's parade at 10:30 am, and the ever-famous cornhole tournament at 1 pm.

That's just a touch of events going on through the day. The Big Dance will kick off at 8 pm with Slade Coulter, then right after him, Dylan Wheeler will take the stage.

Sunday, March 16th will bring the festival to a close with the Lucky Peddler Craft Show starting at 11 am, and the Lad-N-Lassie Pageant kicking off a 1 pm.

You can get tickets to the shows, info on how to register for things such as the beard contest, and still get entered into the parade by going to their website.
