Will Wonderland’s Texas Tornado Reopen After Getting Stuck?

Last week we had a bit of an adventure here in Amarillo. If you were driving past Wonderland Amusement Park last Monday evening, August 3rd, you probably saw a lot of different lights and commotion going on.

Firetrucks, EMS, police, you name it. The lights were flashing, and they were all around the Texas Tornado. The cars were stuck in the middle of the ride, and people were stranded on it. Thankfully, it was on a flat part of the track and not the loop or a turn.

Why Did The Texas Tornado Get Stuck

All we have been told at this point is it was a "mechanical malfunction" and nothing more. Yes, that could mean a million different things, so it's almost a use-your-imagination kind of deal as to what happened.

Now, I know people love to talk. They say the rides are old and janky and no one takes care of them. The new owners did a full inspection before the start of the season, and to my knowledge, they have been checking the rides throughout the season. So this doesn't appear to be neglect, just a failure, which happens.

Will The Texas Tornado Reopen This Year

Right now, that's up in the air. We haven't gotten any word about the plans for the coaster. According to people talking about it on Reddit, many expect it to be closed the rest of the season, and that would make perfect sense.

However, one user noted they did see crews working on the coaster, so maybe there is a chance for it to reopen. We have reached out to Wonderland for comment and will update once we hear back.
