Double Aggravated Robbery Kicks Off 2023 with a Bang!
Yay for 2023! Maybe the crime in Amarillo will drop. Eh, maybe not.
On Thursday, January 12th, the Amarillo Police Department responded to a robbery call at 8:25 PM to the Dollar General located at 3412 S. Georgia. The suspect robbed the store at gunpoint.
The suspect was described as a black male in dark clothing with a blue bandana covering his face. The suspect pulled out a gun and demanded money from an employee. After his demands were met he fled the store in a maroon sedan. No one was hurt in the robbery.
But, wait there's more.
During the police investigation of the Dollar General robbery, another call came into the APD. This time it was at the Sonic located at 1714 S. Western at 9:23 PM. The suspect of this robbery matched the same description of the robbery at Dollar General earlier. Same as above, the suspect walked into the store and demanded money, and fled the scene.
The suspect was identified as Shane Ray Bursie, a 35-year-old male. APD Officers proceeded to his home in the 200 block of Kentucky. Officers located Bursie and evidence in his possession linked him to the robberies. Bursie was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center for Aggravated Robbery and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
What a great start to 2023, a double robbery! Not just a robbery but an aggravated robbery. Luckily, no one was injured in these incidents.
