My all time favorite holiday movie is 'A Christmas Story.' One of the big subplots to the film revolves around the radio drama 'Little Orphan Annie.' This week, radio plays are back on the air in Amarillo.

Ascension Academy will be presenting radio plays this upcoming Friday. The event page says they'll be doing a few comedies, a western, and even a "suspense show".

No word on decoder rings.

If you've never listened to one of the old radio dramas, I can't recommend it enough. They're a lot of fun, and a lot of work goes in to them.

If you're interested in checking out the radio plays being presented by the students of Ascension Academy, check out the event page HERE for times and instructions on how to tune in.

Growing up I attended an annual presentation of 'It's a Wonderful Life' that was done as a radio drama. All of the actors huddled around one of two microphones, and all of the sound effects were made by hand.

The thing I find most interesting about this upcoming presentation from Ascension Academy, is that they are covering several genres instead of doing just one.

I wonder if any other Monty Python fans are hoping they used/use coconut shells to simulate the sound of horse hooves for their western.

If you're still looking for more ways to get the family out of the house for a little bit, this could be a good way to do it without destroying your wallet. It will kick off at 7 PM this Friday at 9301 Ascension Parkway in the parking lot.
