To be fair, I should confess up front that I just don't really like pumpkin spice anything, even if it's in something that makes sense like a seasonal latte. I like pumpkin spice in one thing- pumpkin pie. Hopefully, this doesn't diminish my "basic witch" status.

Pumpkin Spice is a food trend that has experienced unusual longevity and devotion, I think perhaps because it's an emotionally loaded flavor. Pumpkin spice means Fall, and all the lovely things that come with Fall- Halloween, cooler temps, getting to wear your favorite jacket and boots again, pretty leaves, etc.

It seems that every food and beverage company has attempted to cash in on Pumpkin Spice, including things that make sense like Pumpkin Spice Twinkies, and things that make absolutely no sense like Pumpkin Spice dog treats.

New in the latter category is the recently announced Pumpkin Spice Cup Noodles.

From Nissan Food's website:

There’s a fine line between genius and insanity ... Care to cross it with us? Cup Noodles jumps on the Pumpkin Spice crazy train with a special pumpkin seasoning that’s the perfect blend of sweet, savory and spiced. These saucy noodles are ready with just a splash of water and four minutes in the microwave. For the full pumpkin spice experience, top it with whipped cream for the quickest, tastiest and most outlandish pumpkin spice in-a-cup experience you never knew you needed! … Coming to select Walmarts in October! (Yes, really.)

I got heartburn just reading that. But again, I'm a PS hater, so this product wasn't for me anyway. Now a big ol' bowl of Hot & Spicy Shrimp from Nissan- that's the hangover killer, sinus flusher, taste sensation comfort food for the ages.

I am very much looking forward to Fall, for soup. Regular, normal flavors of soup. And lattes. Just plain lattes for me, please.
