We are in back to school season.  I know the kids don't want the summer to end.  So as we are getting ready to head back to school we wanted to share some tips with you about school zone safety.  A yearly reminder never hurts.  Tracy Tellman with the Texas Department of Transportation dropped by the studios the other day to share some tips with us.

With the start of school, the traffic around our schools increase and it is important to keep our kids safe.  This includes bus safety, walking and bike safety, and what we can do as parents to make sure we are following the laws and teaching our how to behave on and near our school zones.

When it comes to the safety of our kids in the car, we want them to be the safest they can be, when traveling.  So if you are not sure that you have your child strapped in correctly or if the seat is properly secure in your car then you will want to stop by the Child Car Seat Checkup.

If you notice, the warmer the weather gets the motorcycles you see all over the city.  Sometimes when we are in the safety of our own vehicles, we sometimes miss people on their motorcycles because of blind spots.  May marks the start of Motorcycle Safety Awareness month.  The Texas Department of Public Safety encourages you to Share the Road.

The intersection at Hillside and Western received a upgrade to the traffic light recently.  It now features a flashing yellow light.  This is the first intersection that has updated to included a flashing yellow light, and over time it will be included in other traffic lights all across Amarillo.

As I am checking my Facebook last night I noticed one of my FB friends had posted this video.  It is one of those videos that make you think, "are you kidding me?"  So apparently there is an easy way for would be thieves to get into your house and it is called a bump key.  Guess what?  It is easily obtainable through the internet.
