Study Ranks States by Hall of Fame Athletes
A study was recently done looking at which states produce the most Hall of Famers across all sports. The results were fascinating. I didn't expect Texas to be as far down the list as it is.

Texas is in the top 10 in only two sports for producing Hall of Fame-level talent. According to a study done by The Sports Geek, hockey and golf are the sports that the Lone Star State is best at creating top talent.
Texas is ranked 9th for the number of Hall of Fame hockey players that call it home, and 10th for the number of golfers.
Texas Football Falls Short in Hall of Fame Rankings
Surprisingly, in a state like Texas that reveres football so highly, there are only 39 NFL Hall of Fame members from the Lone Star State. That was good enough to be ranked 15th.

The study took the number of Hall of Fame members per million residents and used that to determine their rankings.
It goes to show that reaching the highest level in any sport is truly a one-in-a-million chance. That even goes for a state as sports-obsessed as Texas.
