Texas Woman Loses Eyesight After Contracting Flesh-Eating Bacteria at Mud Run
Twenty-four hours after contracting a flesh-eating bacteria at a mud run in Dallas, a Texas woman lost her eyesight in one eye.
“My eye started hurting, like maybe I’ve got mud or some debris in there,” said Brittany Williams, to CBS DFW. “When I opened my eye, it was just like white. The whole room was white.”
Williams, a mother with two jobs, did not have health insurance at the time and has since accrued $100,000 in medical bills. There is a chance that she may be able to regain sight in her eye with surgery, however, doctors have declined to treat her since she lacks health insurance.
