The Treasure of a Beaches Resort

I know that for the past week I have been telling you about my trip to Jamaica.  I was given the honor of broadcasting from the beautiful Beaches Boscobel Resort and Golf Club.  All week I have been telling you about what I have learned about Jamaica.  Well today I would like to tell you about a treasure at the Beaches Resorts.Beaches is truly the Luxury Included Family Vacation.  Everything about it is a treasure, the sights, sounds, culture. As stay at Beaches is inclusive, it includes meals, snacks, the kids have their own snack bar at the resort with snacks including ice cream, soda and more, and the adults have a chance to partake of adult beverages.

One of those beverages which I consider a treasure of Beaches, is called a Dirty Banana and it is the best drink (in my opinion) in Jamaica.  It is a very tasty frozen drink that uses several flavors from Jamaica.  Now don't let the "frozen drink" part  fool you and think that it is one of those foo-foo drinks, as Lony likes to call them, men and women alike drink them up.

When we first arrived at Beaches after getting settled in, I had heard several people talking about this drink (not to mention other people I know who have been to a Beaches or Sandals Resort and have raved about it), so Lony and I decided we just had to try it.  WOW!  that is all I have to say.  It is a taste of the Caribbean.

Lony and I came home with most of the true Jamaican ingredients to make our home version of The Dirty Banana, however, it is never truly the same, plus we don't have access to Jamaica grown bananas.  But, don't think we haven't tried to recreate this tasty beverage.

If you curious about the drink-here's a recipe that you can try at home.  It comes somewhat close:

1 ounce rum-based coffee liqueur
1 ounce rum cream
2 ounces milk
1/2 ounce simple syrup (a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 sugar that is simmered until sugar is dissolved)
1/2 banana
1 cup ice

Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend for 1 minute, or until desired consistency. Serve in a frosted mug.  You can even garnish with a cherry if you so feel the need!

Now, you can take my word on how delicious the Dirty Banana is, and you can even try to make one at home.  But, wouldn't you like to experience a true Jamaican Dirty Banana.  You can!
