There Is Good And Bad News About The Rain And Palo Duro Canyon
The rain has continued to wreak havoc in our area. Businesses that were hoping to open up have had to change their plans after the most recent round of rain. Areas of Amarillo are still flooded with roads closed. If you were thinking of taking a relaxing trip to the canyon to get away from it all, you might want to think again.
There is good and bad news when it comes to the rain, and Palo Duro Canyon.
Let's Start With The Good News
First, the photos that have been coming out of Palo Duro Canyon are stunning. I've seen a lot of pictures posted to social media and they're gorgeous. Everything is so green.
Second, there is still a little bit of camping you can do. It's not much, but there's something. Also, you can still walk portions of the canyon. More on that in second.
Third, if you're hoping to see TEXAS; you're in luck. Performances are continuing "under normal operations." Go have some fun, you musical theater enthusiast you.
So, What's The Bad News?
The flooding in Palo Duro Canyon has caused all trails to be closed. That's right. All trails. So, you'll need to adjust those plans you had for nice hike this weekend.
Also, as you'll notice from the announcement that was made on social media above, there are a lot of campsites and cabins that are closed.
Fingers crossed the rains hold off for just a bit and everything can settle. At the moment, it looks like it will be the middle of next week before everything at the canyon reopens.
